DEFEAT SOCIALIST SANCHEZ

I am running for Georgia State House because the people of HD 42 deserve to be represented by someone who will advance public safety, provide inflation relief to families, and empower parents with educational options for their children – not a self-proclaimed socialist.

Meet Diane

I’m Diane Jackson, and I am running to represent you in the Georgia House of Representatives for District 42. As a Smyrna resident for over 25 years,  corporate executive, and local business owner for 21 years, I have always been passionate about our community, and now it’s time to give back in a more significant way.

Accountability is crucial in my business, where managing budgets and delivering high returns on investment for my customers have been paramount. This same energy and expertise are what I plan to bring to our state government.

This election is not just about choosing a representative; it’s about choosing the direction of our community. I am running against a self-proclaimed socialist, and I believe it is vital for our community to come together to support freedom and democracy and stand up against socialism in our district. We must unite to preserve the values that make our community such a wonderful place to live and work. Let’s work together to build a brighter future for District 42.

Your support is crucial in this critical race. Together, we can ensure that our community thrives and remains a place where everyone can prosper.

Candidate for Georgia House District 42

My Core Values

Like so many of you, I have witnessed the decline of all things that make Smyrna such a great place to raise a family and work for a decent living. The cost of gas and groceries alone is unmanageable and violent crime has risen significantly since 2020.  And too many elected officials are out of reach until campaign season. This has to change!

I love my country. I love the communities of Smyrna and Marietta. If we don’t step in now to protect the constitution by making measurable changes in government, I fear the way of life we have once enjoyed in the past will never be restored.  Help me – so I can help you!

MDJ Around Town: Socialism in Smyrna

This week Gabriel Sanchez, the young socialist who defeated state Rep. Teri Anulewicz, D-Smyrna, in the Democratic primary, held a town hall at the Smyrna Community Center.

Around Town spoke with Sanchez after the town hall to learn more about him. To begin with, he doesn’t shy away from the socialist label.

“I am a Democratic socialist and I believe in the platform that the Democratic socialists are pushing forward and that’s what I fight for,” he said.

APNEWS: Democrat Teri Anulewicz lost to Socialist challenger Gabriel Sanchez in House District 42 around Smyrna in suburban Cobb County.

Sanchez ran on a platform of guaranteeing housing and health care to all Georgians, describing himself as a democratic socialist. Sanchez said Wednesday that his policy positions are more important than the label, but that this identity places him on the left wing of the Democratic caucus, whereas Anulewicz was in the middle of her party.

Georgia Socialist Candidate: “I Want to Be an Organizer Bringing People to the Capitol.”

At nineteen, in 2016, Gabriel Sanchez cast his first vote: for Bernie Sanders. Now, at twenty-six, Sanchez has just launched his campaign for Georgia state house and was endorsed by the Atlanta chapter of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) last week.

AJC: Are Georgia Democrats ready for a Democratic Socialist?

When Gabriel Sanchez knocked off state Rep. Teri Anulewicz by 14 points in a Democratic primary last week, he not only pulled off a stunning upset of a popular incumbent, he also positioned himself to become the first Democratic Socialist in the Georgia General Assembly.

Although previous Democrats like state Sen. Nabilah Islam of Gwinnett have been endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America before, none has ever won with the expansive support of the Atlanta chapter of DSA, nor by calling themselves a “Democratic Socialist” as Sanchez did in his Smyrna-based district. If he wins in November, will Georgia Democrats be ready for a Democratic Socialist?
